Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to my blog! Quite a bit to update on due to not being able to.
On the 27th March, we further developed our collaboration project by giving everyone tasks to complete. I was given the tasks to finish my bunting design and add an alteration to the poster design I did.
Here's the before poster:

It was suggested that the colours could be brighter on the poster, so that even if it fades from the weather, it is still clear what is on it.
Here is the After:

I feel like the Artville could be a bit unreadable for some people, due to the brightness of the circus tent shape.
I had also worked on some illustrations for acts, thinking we were going to do a booklet of our work with that circus theme. I thought to include the illustration I did on a photo background taken of the ring at the Blackpool Tower Circus. This one was prior to putting in the effects of the circus lights and darkening the background to make it look as if there was an audience, but I quite like how this looks.

My friend, AJ and I also planned out our workshop for character designing, which we will be holding at the Aunty Social takeover; we intend to have 3 activities throughout the workshop. The first being a 5 prompt activity where we pick out an adjective and then a noun - being done 3 times, for 3 characters -, allowing 5 minutes for each prompt.
Once that activity is done, we will go onto a 10 minute activity that includes them picking a character they did from the first activity and developing them further by doing thumbnails and colour palettes. The last activity would be them finalising their design in a full illustration, using colour and putting their character in a setting that fits them.
AJ had been in charge of the workshop poster, and created a fantastic looking one!
Here's AJ's poster design:

Whilst she worked on the poster, I have been working on the script on what we will be saying on the day, so that we wouldn't be tripping over each when we talk. I tried to make the speaking parts equal since we're both doing this workshop to boost our confidence, and I wanted to make it fair on both of us.
Here's a quick preview of the script:

On the 28th March, I had uploaded some traditional card designs of a bunny character (one of my mascot's, Kray, friends). These were mostly themed to Easter, but due to not having those words on it, can be used for other things. I got the feedback that the text could be done better, and that if I had drawn on white card, scanned in and printed on to brown card then it could look better especially with the fact that alcoholic markers bleed on the brown card that I use.
Here are my card designs:
My favourite design of the 5 would be the drunk bunny since this best portrays the character he is based on (if you've followed my art for a while, you will know who it is).
On the 2nd April, I uploaded some wolf motifs I had done for a live brief; the ones I posted on Instagram were the colour choices I liked best of each, but my favourite of them all was the blond sleeping one.

On the 6th April, I took part in a Draw This in Your Style challenge (or DTIYS), held by my friend Beth over on Tumblr (Link to post). She was doing a Constantine themed challenge due to it being his official birthday on the 10th May and she wanted to prepare for it. I thought it was the perfect thing for me to join in on. I created my entry on Procreate: sketching, lining and colouring my piece, before posting it to my social medias (which of course included Tumblr).

My Hellblazer DTIYS Entry
I am really proud of how this entry came out, so much that I turned it into prints. I feel like I need to have more prints to represent Constantine more especially if I'm going to start doing more conventions.
Due to not feeling it was long enough, I didn't post the speed draw to YouTube, but did end up posting it to Instagram as a video reel to the song 'Sympathy for the Devil' - The Rolling Stones (something that actor Matt Ryan listens to when getting into the role of the Constantine character).
On the 17th and 18th April, me and my peers did our Artville student takeover at Aunty Social! I think it went exceedingly well! I was excited to sell a few pieces, particularly my stickers of my deer character and some sticker bundles. I learnt how to run the till, and even served a few customers on it! I feel it boosted my confidence slightly doing this!

I took a couple of reels of the tables during the student takeover, posting these to my Instagram: Instagram reels
AJ and I had our Character design workshop on the 18th April, right after Will (another student) gave a presentation on Character design. I learnt quite a few tips from Will's presentation beforehand, so look forward to putting those to use for future character designs. I believe the workshop went really well, though I feel I could have spoke more, but I also think we could have done a couple of run throughs with our script a couple of days prior to the event - especially after getting tutor feedback -. I think that would have put my anxieties to rest as well, so I knew what both of us would be saying, we wouldn't trip over each other's words and both of us would have had equal speaking parts.
Though I feel like I could have updated everyone on it sooner, I did a comic convention stall in Blackpool on 27th and 28th April following the student takeover event. Along with my friend, AJ, I hosted an art stall at the comic con world event at the Winter Gardens and was surprised to have made quite a lot of sales! It definitely helped me boost my confidence and self esteem a little! AJ and I had a really great time doing the stall and have discussed possibly doing another event together some time in the future!

After getting a bit of feedback from peers and my tutor, I feel I could work on packaging and displaying my art better. At least in a more professional and confident way. This is something I am going to be working on with my tutor at some point.
We will also be hugely busy with deadlines in the next coming weeks, which probably means not as many updates (not that there's many at the moment). I can't believe I go into my 3rd and final year in September! I am actually proud of myself for completing 2 years already and as a mum of 2 kids under 5 years! I like to think I've come on quite a lot in the last couple of years, part of me thinks I should be proud of myself, but I find it hard sometimes.
I am not huge on sharing personal life details (mostly because I don't recognise a huge achievement when I get one or simply forget to share), but thought it would be important to share that I have finally got a surgery date for the removal of my gallbladder: 20th may. So, art may be slow or scarce during the couple of weeks following that.
Thank you for reading my ramblings again! See you in another 2 weeks!
Bye!
